Feeling Salty
Feeling Salty is a creative wellness workshop I designed and facilitated prior to founding The Stress Less Company. It evolved from my senior thesis at Moore College of Art & Design, where I explored how ephemeral materials like salt and pollen could support meditative, healing practices—inspired by artists such as Wolfgang Laib and Motoi Yamamoto.
Held for the final time in 2019 at a teacher's conference, Feeling Salty: Release The Stress of Everyday Life offered a unique blend of guided experience and practical stress relief. Participants alternated between my signature moving salt meditation and stream-of-consciousness writing—each round helping them release tension, gain insight, and reconnect with clarity.
The workshop introduced two simple yet powerful stress management exercises to help participants identify the root of their stress and begin addressing it. A final exercise guided them toward clarity around what they most needed to care for themselves—personally and professionally. The result: a grounded, recharged state of mind.
Feeling Salty wasn’t about perfection or stillness. It was about honoring the messiness of life, engaging the body and senses, and letting creativity do what it does best: clear emotional clutter, reconnect us with our truth, and point us toward what’s next.
While the workshop is no longer active, its spirit lives on in my current work—a reminder that meaningful transformation doesn’t always start with logic. Sometimes, it starts with a handful of salt.
Feeling Salty was also featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer, highlighting its unconventional and transformative approach to creative wellness.
